Where our market data comes from.

What we record

From time to time TowValue records the used tow trucks that equipment dealers advertise for sale on their public websites: the year, chassis, towing body, bed length where it is listed, mileage, asking price, and the dates a listing was first seen, changed price or was withdrawn.

We also keep each dealer’s name and state, and each listing’s web address and title, so the same truck can be matched from one visit to the next. Those stay private.

What we publish

Only figures built from many listings: median asking prices, counts and weekly history by equipment type and region, and the estimates the valuation tool produces. No median is published for fewer than three priced trucks.

We never publish dealer names, listing addresses, photographs, descriptions or individual listings. Every image on TowValue is original illustration.

Asking prices, not sales

An advertised price is what a dealer asks, not what a buyer paid, and a listing that disappears may not have sold. Every estimate and market reading on TowValue is framed that way, with its data date. Read the methodology.

Dealers: asking to be left out

Dealers will be able to ask for their listings to be removed and left out of every later update. The address for those requests is published here once the operator details are configured.

Dealers who would rather contribute an inventory feed directly can join the dealer pilot.
